While reviewing the accomplishments of the tourism sector, The Cabinet announced that the contribution made by that sector to the UAE’s National Economy in 2022 was AED 165 billion. Furthermore, the Cabinet expects the contribution to reach AED 180 billion for the year 2023.
They also emphasized the number of jobs the sector offered, which is 751 thousand. A review of expenses made by both domestic and international tourists was also conducted. International tourists spent AED 118 billion, while domestic tourists spent AED 47 billion, further boosting the economy.
Achievements made in the hotel sector were also published. From January to December 2023, Hotel Guest numbers heightened to 28 million, a massive increase of 11% from 2022. 211 thousand hotel rooms were added, which is a 3% improvement from 2022. The revenue accumulated by hotel establishments boosted to AED 46.3 billion, a significant 15% increase compared to 2022.
