Prior to the signing of the agreement, Saint Lucian diplomatic and official passport holders had to endure a lengthy process of up to 30 days to secure a diplomatic/official visa for travel to India. This was due to the necessity of using courier services to send their passports to the Indian Embassy in Paramaribo for processing.
The recent visa waiver agreement between Saint Lucia and the Republic of India signifies a substantial shift in policy. It promises to significantly reduce costs and waiting times for diplomatic and official passport holders traveling to India on official duties.
The signing ceremony underscores the mutual commitment of Saint Lucia and India to enhance cooperation on diplomatic matters. This historic agreement, once ratified by both countries, is poised to pave the way for increased collaboration and exchange, benefiting officials and diplomats from both nations alike.
